If you think Cheap New Balance 997 has been quiet this year, think again. The brand continues their slew of suede 997 releases, as we’ve seen many renditions including the latest “Ski Collection” and the unofficial release of a very well recognized American brewing company. Like any high-quality shoe nowadays, this latest premium runner also commands a premium price – that’s a hefty $210 for a retro running shoe that doesn’t have a collaboration or limited run to back it up.

New Balance continues their new “Retro Ski” collection of colorways inspired by vintage skiing equipment and apparel with this top-par edition of the Buy New Balance 997. But as it so often goes in the sneaker world now, if you want top quality craftsmanship and materials, you’re going to have to pay for it. With a price breaking the $250 summit, you’re definitely paying a little extra for this 997 featuring a blend of premium pigskin suede and Horween leather. Skiing has always been considered a rich man’s sport, so maybe the high price of these 997’s is appropriate.

You can’t mess with perfection. New Balance must know this, because they don’t even try to—as we can see by the brand dropping the original grey New Balance 997 on Sale once again. The first colorway to drop after the shoe’s reintroduction in early 2014, the all-grey look in premium suede with white and reflective accents is back again already. Nobody will be complaining though, because most New Balance fans would be happy to see these Made in USA beauties on the shelves 365 days a year.

The New Balance 997 Shoes is no stranger to premium constructions, just look at what Boston boutique Concepts has done with the silhouette or the plethora of Connoisseur Collection pieces in the past year. Besides becoming collaboration royalty, the silhouette can also stand on its own as this pristine “Red Carpet” pair proves. If the colorway seems a bit familiar, look no further than the infamous woven LeBron 7 that he wore against the New York Knicks in his last season as a Cavalier before heading to South Beach. This New Balance aesthetic takes the teal and red accents to task, placing the added vibrance on a subdued grey suede and black mesh combination.

Perhaps the biggest news coming this weekend isn’t a particular sneaker release, but instead it’s the imminent arrival of Boston-based boutique Concepts in New York City. New Balance 997 Men's/Women's The shop has been operating since 1996 and churning out some of the most enticing collaborative efforts this side of running silhouettes. So what better way for them to kick off their Big Apple debut than with a pristine New Balance 997. So far, details remain slim beside a few teasers that showcase the model in a soft, faded red with a perforated toebox and a synthetic snakeskin textile on the collar and tongue in a contrasting grey. There’s no release date yet, but there’s a chance this pair will coincide with the shop’s opening this Saturday.
